The rags to riches story of Maggie Malone (Jenna Mattison), an aspiring author who finds a rare edition of Great Expectations in the bookstore where she works. A seemingly magical book, Maggie is granted three wishes… or so she thinks. The true magic is actually being orchestrated by a mysterious benefactor (Armand Assante), who has commissioned a handsome Oxford lawyer (Sean Maguire) to guide her through a Cinderella-like transformation. The cynical Maggie soon finds herself spellbound by her dashing escort… and believing in the very fairy tales she writes about.
Sean plays Brandon, a lawyer who always plays by the rules. Meeting Maggie turns his world upside down and makes him live a little and let loose. Although his arrangement with her is supposed to be strictly business, he ends up falling for her. It makes his job of keeping the benefactor a secret hard but if he were to reveal it he would be risking his career.
- The late James Avery is in this movie. He is best known for his role as Uncle Phil on the TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
- Legendary Betty White also appears.
